The Pepper Site
Peppers are found in many parts of the world, and come in two types: the sweet pepper and the hot pepper. Although most consider them to be a vegetable, they are grown from a pepper plant and are categorised as a fruit. Hot peppers contain the chemical capsicum, which gives it its fiery flavour. Capsicum is only tasted by mammals, oddly. Peppers come in lots of different colours, indicating how ripe they are and the conditions in which they were harvested. The pepper is an ingredient in hundreds of recipes and is quite a versatile ingredient.
